Common questions
What does the Bible say about giving?
Second Corinthians 9:7 says each person should give as they have decided in their heart, not reluctantly or under pressure, because God loves a cheerful giver. Acts 20:35 adds that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Does the Bible require a tithe?
The Old Testament law set tithes of crops and animals for Israel (Leviticus 27:30 and Malachi 3:10). The New Testament stresses generous, willing giving, as in 2 Corinthians 9:7, rather than a fixed percentage. Christians hold different views, so many talk it through with their church.
