Common questions
What does the Bible say about fear?
The Bible tells people not to be afraid because God is with them. Isaiah 41:10 and Isaiah 43:1 say so directly, and 2 Timothy 1:7 says God has not given us a spirit of fear. First John 4:18 says perfect love drives out fear.
Is the fear of the LORD the same as being afraid?
Not exactly. In verses like Proverbs 9:10 the fear of the LORD means reverence and awe toward God, which leads to wisdom. It is different from the dread the verses on this page tell you to set aside.
