A thought for today
In God's presence there is fullness of joy, and at his right hand are pleasures forevermore. Joy is found by being close to him. Spend a quiet moment in his presence today.
About Psalms 16:11
The story behind it
Psalm 16 carries a heading attributing it to David and calling it a miktam, a term whose meaning is uncertain. It is a psalm of trust that begins with a prayer to be kept safe in God. This verse is its closing line, and it ends on a note of joy.
What it means
In verses 8 to 10 the writer says he keeps the Lord always before him, and that his heart is glad and his body secure. Verse 11 then says God shows him the path of life, and that in his presence is fullness of joy. In Acts 2:25 to 28, Peter quotes this psalm, and many Christians also read it as pointing to Christ's resurrection.
Why this verse: Joy
Joy is found in being close to God, not only in good circumstances. This verse invites you to spend a quiet moment in his presence and let that be enough for now.
